HISTORY
The Alamance Wildlife Club has a rich legacy in the early foundations of wildlife conservation and resource management in North Carolina. The Club was organized in 1945 by a small group of dedicated sportsman to help establish a wildlife commission in the state. Prior to that time, there were no state-led efforts to improve wildlife habitat. Through lobbying efforts, the early founders of the Club helped push the creation of the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission in 1947. The Alamance Wildlife Club chartered and incorporated as a private club in 1954. Due to widespread interest in the area's quail hunting during these early years, club members also helped organize bird dog trials at various county locations. These club fundraisers were very successful and helped purchase the club's first parcel of the present day property in the southern part of Alamance County in 1957. Since that time, our Club has acquired additional surrounding property with now just over 284 acres of diverse habitat with over 230 acres in manageable timberland.
